How Charitable Giving Leads to Meaningful Legacies
Posted July 2024Charitable gifts can create lasting legacies. They can also help to ensure that both your personal and philanthropic wishes are fulfilled. How do you want to be remembered? Is giving one of your traditions? What steps can you take to create a lasting legacy—and also find peace of mind for yourself and your loved ones?
Many of our donors have attended school, received medical care, visited parks and historical sites, and enjoyed local and community offerings such as sports, museums, music, and more. As they age, their needs and interests may change—and so will the charitable organizations they interact with most.
Charitable individuals usually support the organizations that have been important to them or their families in some way. After taking care of their own needs, they turn outward and help meet the needs of others. This is the essence of making gifts. The privilege of being philanthropic is realized once you have taken care of yourself and your family. Being able to give to help others can feel very fulfilling.
One of the easiest and most popular ways to create your legacy is through a charitable bequest. Bequests cost nothing now, and they enable you to make significant contributions that may not have been possible during life. If your financial situation or family circumstances change, you can remove or modify a charitable bequest.
As you remember the organizations that have been vital to your life, we hope ours will be on your list. If you are considering making a gift by bequest, we would be happy to talk to you and provide sample bequest language. We look forward to the opportunity to assist you.
